Shinghome Book a stay

Live here, not just visit

Local guide.

Getting around, stocking up, and the city worth staying for.

A Shinghome stay comes with the things a hotel concierge can't give you — the everyday knowledge of people who live here year-round. This is the orientation we give every long-stay guest on arrival.

Getting around

Transport

Bangkok runs on rail, and most of the city's must-sees are a single BTS or MRT ride from a Shinghome door — so you skip the legendary traffic.

  • 01

    BTS & MRT

The Skytrain (BTS) and subway (MRT) cover the corridors that matter. Grab a stored-value Rabbit card for the BTS; the MRT takes contactless. Trains run roughly 6am–midnight.

  • 02

    Airport links

From Suvarnabhumi (BKK), the Airport Rail Link reaches Phaya Thai in ~30 minutes. Don Mueang (DMK) is easiest by taxi. We arrange a fixed-price pickup for arriving guests.

  • 03

    Grab & taxis

Grab — Southeast Asia's ride app — is the simplest door-to-door option, fare shown upfront. Metered taxis are cheap; just ask for the meter. Motorbike taxis (orange vests) beat gridlock for short hops.

  • 04

    Boats

The Chao Phraya express boats and the Saen Saeb canal boats are the fastest — and most scenic — way across the old city and toward the river temples.

What's one ride away

Which station drops you at which landmark — every stop below is reachable by BTS, MRT, or a short boat hop.

  • 01

    Sanam Chai (MRT)

The Grand Palace and Wat Pho, with the cross-river ferry to Wat Arun.

  • 02

    Siam & Chit Lom (BTS)

Siam Paragon, CentralWorld, the Erawan Shrine (Four-Face Buddha), and the Pratunam fashion market.

  • 03

    Saphan Taksin (BTS)

Sathorn pier for the river boats, ICONSIAM, and Asiatique's riverfront night market and Ferris wheel.

  • 04

The legendary Chatuchak Weekend Market and the Or Tor Kor fresh market.

Jodd Fairs and the Ratchada night-market scene — minutes from our Huai Khwang stays.

  • 06

    Kheha (BTS)

Ancient Siam (Muang Boran) and the Erawan Museum, out toward Samut Prakan.

Where to eat

The street-Michelin shortlist

Bangkok has more Michelin-listed street food than almost anywhere on earth. A handful our guests keep coming back for:

  • 01

    Jay Fai

The Michelin-starred crab-omelette stall on Maha Chai Road. Go early, expect a queue, bring cash.

  • 02

    Thip Samai

Bangkok's most famous pad thai, wrapped in egg, near the Golden Mount.

  • 03

    Charoen Saeng Silom

Slow-braised pork leg over rice (khao kha moo). Lunch only — it sells out.

  • 04

    Jeh O Chula

Late-night tom-yum 'mama' noodles. Put your name down and wait; it's worth it.

  • 05

    Rung Rueang

The pork-noodle institution off Sukhumvit 26 — a perfect first bowl.

  • 06

    Polo Fried Chicken

Garlic-fried chicken near Lumpini Park, on every Bangkok must-eat list.

Worth your time

Sights, markets & days out

The icons, the after-dark markets, and the easy escapes — most an hour or less from your door.

  • 01

    The icons

The Grand Palace and Wat Pho, Wat Arun across the river, and Jim Thompson House for a quieter afternoon. Go early to beat the heat and the crowds.

  • 02

    Night markets

Jodd Fairs (Rama 9) and the Ratchada markets for food and neon; the Srinakarin Train Market for vintage finds; Asiatique on the river for an easy first night.

  • 03

    Green & calm

Lumpini and Benjakitti parks for a morning run; Bang Krachao — the city's 'green lung' — for a half-day cycle just across the river.

  • 04

    Days out

Ancient Siam and the Erawan Museum at Samut Prakan; Ayutthaya's temple ruins by train; the Damnoen Saduak and Amphawa floating markets; or a weekend down to Pattaya, where we also operate.

Stocking up

Shopping & groceries

From rooftop malls to wet markets, daily life is close. Here's where our guests actually shop.

  • 01

    Malls

CentralWorld and Siam Paragon for the flagship run; Central Rama 9 and The Esplanade on the Ratchada side; EmSphere / EmQuartier on Sukhumvit; ICONSIAM on the river.

  • 02

    Supermarkets

Tops, Big C, and Lotus's for the weekly shop; Gourmet Market and Villa Market for imported and Western goods. Most malls have one in the basement.

  • 03

    Markets

Pratunam for fashion by the kilo; Chatuchak Weekend Market for everything under the sun; Or Tor Kor for premium produce.

  • 04

    Day-to-day

A 7-Eleven or FamilyMart is never more than a block away — bills, SIM top-ups, snacks, parcels. Pharmacies (Boots, Watsons) are in every mall.
